Delusions of Grandeur

Have you ever had them? A feeling that it was up to you to figure everything out in this world? That if others would just follow you everything would be okay?
I think at one point or another, if we’re being honest, most of us have had moments like this. Either consciously or not. I definitely have. I notice a good deal of suffering occurring from this type of thinking.
It’s a weird thing I think…trying to figure out how to have a healthy relationship with yourself.
It seems like the goal to me is balance. On one side, I don’t want to elevate myself to a status above others. That doesn’t feel right. That’s a silly game. Elevation creates division, ranking, and is the game of the fearful ego.
On the other side, I don’t want to feel less than either. I find this to be such an easy trap to fall into these days. There are SO many humans and many of them are doing tremendous work.
It’s easy to feel smaller than or even worthless. It’s almost as if the amazingness of nature is so far beyond belief. It is crazy. The art work that we exist within is so far beyond words or even feelings to describe.
Nonetheless, I know that what is right for me, is to attempt to honor the amazingness of this awesome being that I am.
The cool thing is that we all get to do this. We can all say, “hey, it’s a pretty darn cool experience being a human being. I am grateful for simply being a person. I don’t need to compare my vessel with any other vessel. I wish everyone well, and we’re all pretty neat.”
So I remind myself…honor life, honor what I am, but be careful not to elevate.

Gratefuly,
